Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold 2 Might Come With S Pen Pocket in Hinge
Samsung's first Galaxy Z TriFold is exciting because it opens into a much larger screen, but there is one big disappointment: Samsung's own product page says the Galaxy Z TriFold does not support S Pen.
That is a strange gap, because a trifold phone is exactly the kind of device where a stylus would make sense.
A bigger screen is better for drawing, notes, signing documents, multitasking, and productivity.
This Samsung patent , thanks to our collab with David from @xleaks7, appears to solve that problem by giving the digital pen its own storage space inside the hinge area instead of forcing users to carry it separately.
The Patent
Samsung's patent describes a foldable electronic device with multiple panels, hinge areas, and a digital pen that can be stored in an internal space created when the device is folded.
In simple words, Samsung is looking at a future trifold-style phone where the S Pen could live inside the hinge area, almost like a hidden pocket.
The patent also talks about magnets, charging, and detecting whether the pen is properly stored.
To fit the S Pen, Samsung may need to make one side of the trifold slightly narrower, which could make the phone look less balanced.
Key Points
- Built-in S Pen pocket inside the hinge area
- Designed for a future Samsung Galaxy Trifold-style device
- Fixes the first Trifold's biggest issue: no S Pen support
- The phone may fold around the pen when closed
- One side panel could be slightly narrower to make space
- Magnets may hold the S Pen securely in place
- The device may detect when the S Pen is stored or removed
- The S Pen could charge while inside the phone
- Turns the Trifold into a more Note-like productivity device
- Possible trade-off: thicker body or less symmetrical design
Release Date
The first Galaxy Z TriFold was launched in Korea on December 12, 2025, and later arrived in the U.S. on January 30, 2026.
But it did not stay on sale for long. Reports in March 2026 said Samsung had already started discontinuing the Galaxy Z TriFold in Korea, with U.S. sales expected to end after remaining stock was sold.
As for the new S Pen version, there is no official release date yet. Rumors suggest that Samsung's next Trifold could arrive in early 2027.
